Annunciation

This painting of the Annunciation is a fresco by Sandro Botticelli. The Arch Angel Gabriel comes through a door, possibly representing the door to Heaven. Rays start behind Gabriel and end when they are touching the Virgin Mary. She appears to be giving a slight bow to Gabriel, recognizing that he is an angel form Heaven. Gabriel is about to tell Mary that she will be carrying the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Mary appears to have been sitting in her room. She looks like she is getting up from her seat. Her bed is not at the same ground level at her. At the bottom of her feet is a rug.
In the background there are hills, possibly mountains further back. On top of the second furthest hill is a structure. Below the second hill is a river or a lake.
