The Souvenir- Jean- Honore Fragonard

Oil on Panel
1775-78

Maria Martinez
Fragonard was a French Rococo painter. The reason why I chose The Souvenir by Fragonard was because this particular paining caught my eye. The medium that Fragonard used in this painting was oil on panel. This painting is simple and calm. The way he painted the dress is marvelous the folds and how the dress has this moving effect. The way he painted the tree made the effect of wind being in the picture very precise. The colors in this painting are very dull colors. Fragonard’s painting you can see the brush strokes very clear. The lighting in this painting is directed clearly to the lady. The souvenir was my favorite art work from Fragonard because his style in this painting caught my eye and how the light is shining upon her.
