Young Women from the Village- Gustave Courbet

1851
Oil on canvas

Maria Martinez
The young woman from the village painted by Gustave Courbet is my favorite painting. This painting captured my eyes because of the vivid colors he used. The realism from this painting is eye catching from the meadow to the animals in the field. The medium Gustave used in this painting was oil. One of the parts that I enjoyed from this painting was how he captured the shadows of the women and how soothing the folds are on their dresses. The second thing that attracted me to this painting was the blue sky and how he added one cloud just tied up this whole painting. This painting by Gustave Courbet is very calming to look at, and his style is very impressive. The style of this painting is seemed in my eyes as if this was a photograph.
