Pablo Picasso, Madre e hijo, 1905, o/c

This particular painting stood out to me because is one of my favorites. I have it hanging in my room. This one that I found online looks different, it is more heavily outlined and less delicate looking which really depreciates the work. In the painting is a woman breastfeeding her baby. He is holding on to her and she is looking down with a tender expression. To me, this painting is a good representation of motherhood.
She is giving up precious nutrition for your child and doing so in a loving way. In life, women give up so much of ourselves to raise a child. I think Picasso is the greatest cubist, and the fact that he excels in naturalist and expressionist art as well is incredible.
