Melihi studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Tetouan. He later became a full-time professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca from 1964 to 1969. Along with with Belkahia and Shebaa, he co-founded the Cultural Festival of Asilah. Melehi was an active member of the journal Integral from 1976 to 1982, and was a director of the Department of Arts Cultural Affairs. From 1985 to 1992 Melehi was appointed Chief of Staff and Director of Arts at the Ministry of Culture. It is dedicated to the creation of new exhibition spaces in different cities of the Kingdom and promoting art and culture Moroccan worldwide. In 2001 he was appointed Chief of Staff to the Foreign Minister, Benaissa.
